AUSSIE HIGH COM STAFF WITH STAKEHOLDERS TO GHAOBATA
Australian High Commission staff are working with the Solomon Islands Government, donors, non-government organisations, local health officials and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force to conduct rapid needs assessments of flood-affected communities in Guadalcanal.
Australia in Solomons social media says two staff from the Australian High Commission travelled to Ghaobata Ward on Sunday 6 April in East Guadalcanal to assess affected villages around Tetere and along the Mbalasuna river.
It says reports are that most communities in the area were inundated with flood waters.
Food gardens, field wells and some houses were destroyed.
