The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources’ Monitoring, Compliance and Surveillance Department has taken delivery of new sets of uniforms recently.

A government statement today said the assistance was made possible by Pete Southern from the Ministry of Primary Industries in New Zealand which procured the uniforms.

A similar assistance was received in 2013.

Chief Fisheries Officer Charles Tobasala said in 2013 they received eight pairs of overall suits, boots and caps funded by the New Zealand Government with the help of Pete Southern.

Mr. Tobasala thanked the New Zealand Government as the uniforms have been provided with funding from the ‘Mekem Strong Solomon IslandsFisheries (MSSIF) Programme’ – a long-term institutional strengthening initiative supporting the Ministry, funded by the New Zealand Programme.

Meanwhile, Mr Tobasala said the uniforms will boost their image at work especially when discharging their duties onboard fishing vessels and during any other onshore jobs.
