H.C.C MET SALO FISHING CO-OP SOCIETY TO DISCUS CAR PARK ISSUES

Honiara City Council has met with the Salo Fishing Co-operative Society of the Fishing Village in Honiara to discuss car park issues of the Fishing Village Market.

The Council’s Trade and Commerce Standing Committee held the meeting with the Society on Monday this week.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee, Eddie Siapu told the meeting an agreement needs to be reached so that the market can operate within the Council’s Market Ordinance.

Mr Siapu also told the meeting, the Society needs to agree to ask market vendors to pay fees to the Honiara City Council.

Meanwhile, in his response, Chief Moses Loea of Fishing Village said they are happy with the City Council’s initiative to discuss the market issues with them.

The Fishing Village Chief also said they are willing to help improve the fishing market with the outcome of the agreement.

SIBC News understands the Standing Committee will finalise the plan after it is tabled in its next meeting.
