The President of the Solomon Islands National Council of Women (SINCW) Ella Kauhue has called on the responsible Government Ministries to start advocating on the Family Protection Act to Communities across the country.

President Kauhue says, there are a lot of communities that are isolated and have very limited information on Violence against Women and young girls.

She says the DCC Government needs to prioritise putting resources to the implementation of the Family Protection Act to lessen the chances of more women and girls getting hurt by their so-called husbands and fathers.

Ms. Kauhue explains, violence against women is an emergency issue in the country, therefore, the Government  and all relevant stakeholders need to collaborate and strengthen their networks to address this epidemic.

Women’s organizations need to stand together to fight this evil from attacking more women and girls.  She calls on Non- Government Organizations to monitor and evaluate their programs so that our women whether isolated or not feel the impact of these programs.

It is a concern that a lot of resources have been made available to address Violence against Women, however, the number of women and girls experiencing violence is still prevalent.
