Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare describes Solomon Islands as a potentially great tourism nation.

Prime Minister Sogavare told a visiting delegation from the Chinese Skyline Business Council, Solomon Islands is home to the biggest Lake in the Pacific, Lake Tengano.

Mr Sogavare adds the country is home to the Iron Bottom Sound, an underwater museum of World War 2 shipwrecks.

He adds the longest lagoon in the world, Marovo Lagoon is found in Solomon Islands.

The Prime Minister says Guadalcanal Island, Japan’s turning point during World War 2 is an important historical site.

He further stress one of the strategic measures to attract more foreign investment is the introduction of a Special Economic Zone Legislation in the next sitting of Parliament in July.

The free economic zones to be created as a result of this proposed legislation to carry investment incentives such as tax holidays and duty exemptions.

These incentives would be packaged according to each sector or industry.

This will present the opportunity to select from a regiment of investment packages in line with investors interest.
