FINANCE MINISTRY WARNS SERVICE PROVIDERS
Ministry of Finance and Treasury warns suppliers, contractors and service providers undertaking contractual obligations with the Government to comply with the 2013 procurement rules or risk non-payment for their services.
Any officer of a Ministry or Agency who signs a contract and orders delivery of goods and services or start construction or repair works without MoFT’s approval and counter-signing of that contract will be held personally liable for the payment of the total value of the goods and services delivered and works completed.
The warning is important to avoid wastage of public funds on inferior goods and services.
SIBC News understands a memorandum was issued last week reminding all ministries of their responsibilities in certifying the progress of any contracted work.
