MARAU SHIPPING SERVICE AWARDED NEW SHIPPING CONTRACT
The Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) has awarded a new shipping service contract to the Marau Shipping Service Limited which will operate MV Kesoko via the Makira-Weather Coast route.
Permanent Secretary Moses Virivolomo said the service will operate twice a month starting this Tuesday from Honiara to Marau Bay, ontoSanta Ana and return the same route.
He adds the company can only charge the passenger fares and cargo rates as agreed by the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary said the shipping service was jointly funded by Solomon Islands Government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
