CHIEF CALLED ON DCC TO INCLUDE CHIEFS IN CONSULTATIONS

Chief Dickson Maepoina from West Are’are has called on the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government to include the House of Chiefs when conducting consultations for development in that region.
SIBC News Stringer Mr Gabriel Riotarau reports, Chief Maepoina raised this view after realising chiefs are excluded in a recent national consultation on the proposed Wairokai Township Project in West Are’are.
“They knew that chiefs were not invited to this consultation so the chief called on the government to recognise or include chiefs especially house of chiefs like Arahanimane to involve in the consultations.”
Mr Riotarau adds, the House of Chiefs in that region are quite disappointed about their exclusion from the consultation.
He says senior officials from various government Ministries turned up while the House of Chiefs were not invited.
