The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has received its first breathalyser unit.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast brought the breathalyser equipment along to his press conference today.

It is one of twelve units the RSIPF will receive and officers are currently undergoing training on how to use it.

The breath analysis equipment will assist the RSIPF to enforce drink-driving rules effectively.

In his earlier media talks, Commissioner Prendergast says the number of alcohol-related traffic deaths has reached almost 10 in this year alone.
