ANGLICAN PARISHIONERS IN NORTH OPPOSE WOMEN PRIESTS IDEA

Anglican Church of Melanesia parishioners in North Malaita say they do not support the idea of having women as priests to serve in the church.
The parishioners expressed their view in light of a survey recently conducted in the region to get views on having women priests.
SIBC’s Bita’ama stringer, John Andrew Kiri said Anglican parishioners in the region do not support this idea.
“The people’s reaction here especially Anglican parishioners is that they do not favour, support or even accept such an idea which they say would only divide Christians especially Anglican parishioners and even other denominations like brothers and sister from the Catholics, SSEC, Jehovah’s Witness and even SDA and other sect movements. Upon hearing that the mother church, Anglican wants to introduce, discuss and support such an idea, they totally oppose it.”
SIBC News understands, supporting such an idea would be difficult for some Anglican communities in Malaita province.
