The Western Provincial Assembly has passed a recurrent budget of about $25 million.

Western Provincial Deputy Premier Wayne Maepio confirms.

“The budget of $25 millions is for recurrent. Now recurrent budget is mostly to spend for the administration and operations of the province at the moment. Now on the development budget, that will come in around May or June whereby we will talk about capital projects regarding development.”

Hon Wayne adds, the national government also approves work to begin on the Gizo road project.

He says work on the road project will commence at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, Sina Adrian of the SIBC’s Radio Hapi Lagoon reports, Mr. Maepio also announced the Gizo market relocation project to be spearheaded by a market committee to be appointed this week.

He says the West end of Gizo town – the former KHY area will accommodate the new market facility.
