FIVE PASSENGERS RESCUED SAFELY FROM DRIFTING BOAT
The Maritime Search and Rescue Unit has successfully rescued five passengers from a drifting boat, Tuesday night.
The Maritime Unit confirms, MV Charisma picked up the passengers and brought them to safety.
The boat was travelling to Gela from Honiara Monday morning when its 60-horse power engine dismounted off the back of the boat into the sea.
This is the second rescue operation the unit has successfully conducted during the current bad weather.
Meanwhile, Peter Young who headed the Maritime Search and Rescue Unit cautions, rescuing people from stranded or drifting boats take the time to arrange.
He says it is always safer for boat travellers to follow weather advice and take necessary safety precautions.
