MAN IN HIS MID FORTIES SENTENCED FOR TWO AND HALF YEARS
The High Court has sentenced a man in his mid-forties to 2 years six months in jail for attempting to rape and indecently assaulting his teenage step-daughter.
The man was convicted on two counts of attempted rape and one count of indecent assault after pleading guilty.
Judge Francis Mwanesalua sentenced him to serve all the charges concurrently for two years-six months.
He then backdated the sentence to the 4th of February 2010, the date the prisoner was held in custody.
This means the prisoner will only remain in jail for another five months and three weeks before he is released.
The Court heard the prisoner attempted to rape the victim on two separate occasions and indecently assaulted her at their home.
She was only fourteen years old at the time- the daughter of his second wife.
The prisoner has paid compensation to his wife for the incident and has admitted he had breached the victim’s trust in him.
