INJURIES SUSTAINED BY RECAPTURED ESCAPEES INVESTIGATED

Police are investigating circumstances surrounding very serious injuries sustained by the two prison escapees who were recaptured in Auki Tuesday this week.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast confirms the investigations today.
He says both men were seriously injured prior to their recapture.
“Both were quite seriously injured prior to their arrest, we’re investigating the cause of those injuries, there’s been a little bit of confusion as top whether they injured themselves in escaping from the Correctional Service Center or whether they were injured in another case with someone else when they escape.”
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner thanked the community for supporting the police in recapturing the two escapees.
“So I’d like to acknowledge the support we had from communities who work with the police to recapture those escapees and also I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of my officers in bringing that matter to a swift resolution.”
SIBC News is aware, Police is also investigating how the two men escaped on News Year’s Day.
