Sharzy arrested for illegal entry in Western Province
Solomon Islands music icon Sharzy was arrested yesterday in Gizo, Western Province for alleged illegal entry.
Police arrested Sharzy, whose real name is Samson Saeni, after he allegedly crossed the border into Western Province from Papua New Guinea.
He is accused of failing to present himself to an immigration officer after arriving in Solomon Islands to obtain permission to enter the country as required by the Immigration Act.
Immigration officer Benzly Kasutana said Mr Saeni has been released on bail and is expected to appear before the Gizo Magistrates’ Court on April 30.
Mr Kasutana said more details about the case will come out after the court appearance.
Mr Saeni, who has been living and working in Papua New Guinea for the past few years, was reportedly in Gizo to perform at the Waterfront nightclub this weekend.
