ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY BUILDS YOUTH CAPACITY
Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology continues in capacity and capability building to provide adequate and improved services and livelihoods to Solomon Islanders.
Minister Bradley Tovosia was speaking during the occasion to celebrate the World Meteorology Day today.
Mr Tovosia says the Ministry has over the years engaged young people to implement its resilience programs.
“For example, young people were engaged as a part of the Environment Youth Programme and an environment capacity building programme funded by the UNDP. Youths participated in speech competitions, band competitions, sponsoring students for the Certificate Program in Environment Science by the Solomon Islands National University as participating in international forums. Continuos engagement with young people now will build in them a desire to take care of this country and its people in the face of Climate Change,” said the Minister.
The World Meteorological Day is celebrated annually on the 23 of March.
