RSIPF peacekeepers return
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, RSIPF, has yesterday welcomed home four of its officers who served as peacekeepers in Darfur, Sudan since last October.
Police Media said Senior Sergeant Tex Tafoa, Sergeant Nelson Kalea, Police Constables Gregory Kisina and Joseph Poleita arrived back into the country this week.
Police Commissioner Matthew Varley said RSIPF is pleased to have its officers back after another successful deployment in Darfur.
Commissioner Varley said the officers, like the first deployment, showed professionalism at all times during their assignment and they are doing the country proud.
Commissioner Varley added, the UN Peacekeeping Mission deployment marks a great achievement for Solomon Islands particularly the RSIPF for being able to participate in such an international deployment.
The first deployment of five RSIPF officers to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur returned in September last year.
Three other officers, including two female officers are currently serving the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur.
