GOVERNMENT’S ANTI-CORRUPTION REPORT QUESTIONED
The Joint Civil Society Groups & Concerned Citizens, JCSG & CC, has questioned the validity and correctness of the government’s anti-corruption report which was delivered to the Implementation Review Group session in Vienna, Austria this week.
In a statement, the Interim Chairman of JCSG & CC and Acting CEO of ANS Barnabas Henson says this comes after the report fails to outline successes and challenges faced in implementing the UN Convention Against Corruption, UNCAC, in Solomon Islands.
Mr Henson says the NCRA government fails to show any seriousness in addressing corruption in the country despite Parliament recently passed Political Parties Integrity Bill to address the detrimental effects of political corruption on transparent and accountable governance.
Mr Henson now calls on the NCRA government to publicly outline successes and challenges faced in implementing the UN Convention Against Corruption in the country to ensure it is publicly scrutinized.
