Renbel Honiara Community Celebrates 31st Second Appointed Day

The Rennell and Bellona Honiara Community celebrated the provinces 31st Second Appointed Day in Honiara today.

The day was marked with a float parade from Lawson Tama to the National Auditorium where an official program was held.

Speaking at the event, Member of Parliament for Rennell and Bellona Constituency, John Tuhaika Junior said the celebration is a time to reflect on the province’s achievements.

“This is a time for us to sit and have a reflection on what we have achieved in the past 31 years, what are the opportunities we manage to capture and make good use of or what are the challenges we have overcome, before we continue our journey,” Hon Tuhaika poses.

Meanwhile, Chair of the organizing committee, Pastor Johnny Tangokona said the theme for the celebration also depicts a new beginning for the province.

“The theme for this year’s celebration, we want to portray a new beginning. New beginning in the sense that our people should put aside differences they might have.”

“With our new leaders both in the national and provincial government, it speaks that the people of Rennell and Bellona are looking for change, looking for something new, a new beginning,” Pastor Tangokona pointed out.

The celebration was also attended by the six (6) pageant contestants.

The event ended with entertainments.
