S.I.E.C READY FOR ELECTIONS
Solomon Islands goes to the poll tomorrow, November 19 and the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission says it is ready to open all of its polling stations across the country for people to cast their votes, at 7am tomorrow morning.
Acting Chair of the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission, Mrs Emily Teitala made the statement today, during the Electoral Commission’s final media conference before polling day.
Mrs Teitala also said, tomorrow’s polling day is an accumulation of many months of planning and preparations by the Electoral Commission.
“And am pleased to say we are ready for this important event. All ballot papers have been printed and have been received by Returning Officers, all polling kits have been distributed, all training of Presiding Officers and Polling Assistants have been conducted. As Acting Chair of the Electoral Commission I would like to urge all registered voters to take part in this election. Vote Bilong You, Vois Belong You.”
Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission has appealed for calm at tomorrow’s event and has expressed hope that everyone will take part in the democratic process.
