Solomon Islands and Fiji have decided today to lift the Air Services Agreement suspension to allow Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines to provide air services immediately.

This comes after Solomon’s Foreign Affairs Minister Milner Tozaka, successfully met with his counterpart, Fiji’s Civil Aviation Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum this morning.

A statement from the Prime Minister says both airlines are now entitled to operate three flights per week.

It adds, while it covers one weekly flight between Nadi and Honiara via Port Villa, departing Nadi on Tuesday and returning on the same day, Solomon Airlines will operate one weekly direct flight between Honiara and Nadi, departing on Saturday and returns to Honiara on Sunday.

SIBC News understands the lifting can now allow the two airlines to immediately begin their flights next month.
