A high level review meeting of the Solomon Islands Government and UN Agencies was held in Honiara today for the annual review of the UN programs in Solomon Islands in 2013.

The review focuses on the identification of issues and challenges faced and to decide on priorities to chart a way forward for the United Nation’s assistance to Solomon Islands this year and beyond.

Opening the meeting, supervising Minister of Development Planning Hon. Bradley Tovosia says the review determines how UN contributes to the development priorities of the country.

Minister Tovosia also noted, the support provided should be guided by the development priorities of the Solomon Islands government.

Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Mrs Osnat Lubrani said one of the key principles underpinning the United Nations Development Assistance Framework, UNDAF is the notion of “National Ownership”.

She stressed, UN’s intervention programs in Solomon Islands are undertaken with the Solomon Islands Government.

Lubrani explained, this approach ensures a close and successful partnership.
