BANANA FIBRE WEAVING TO SHOWCASE IN GUAM

The Banana Fibre Weaving will be showcased regionally at the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam from May 21st..
Director of Culture from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Dennis Marita says, the unique art will be showcased by a woman from Santa Cruz, Temotu Province.
Marita says this has been one of Solomon Islands cultural icon.
“In terms of weaving, we are getting a weaver from Santa Cruz who will perform banana fibre weaving, so there are certain aspects that will be new showcases for us and provided that this is like one of our cultural icon so it has always been there as part of our showcase.”
Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands 170 member delegation to the 12th FOPA comprises artists and cultural practitioners.
