An incomplete clinic project initiated by Australian Mining Company, St Barbara in North Guadalcanal has left residents in Bembe and Koli point questioning what has happened to the project.

Construction started in early 2014 with funds from the St Barbara Mining Company and was part of its support to the Matepono downstream communities.

SIBC stringer for North Guadalcanal Dudley Gani reports while Koli Point residents are questioning what is happening to the project, the Provincial Health Division has advised the communities to follow up on the project with the former MP for North Guadalcanal, Martin Sopaghe.

“So the Guadalcanal Health Division said it didn’t know what happened with the funding for this project and advised community leaders within the proposed clinic site to follow up on this with the former Member of Parliament for North Guadalcanal Constituency.”

Gani also reports people at Koli point and Bembe communities are currently going to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Guadalcanal Plains, which is an expensive option.
