CREDIT CORP DONATED $100,000 TO FLOOD RELIEF EFFORTS
Credit Corporation has donated 100-thousand dollars to World Vision to assist with the recovery efforts following the country’s recent floods that destroyed livelihoods and left thousands homeless.
Corporation General Manager Tony Langston handed over the cheque to Country Director Dr Andrew Catford Monday morning.
Handing over the assistance, Mr Langston says Credit Corporation wants to assist those affected by the floods.
He says, Credit Corporation chose to donate through World Vision because of their expertise, strong reputation and commitment to the development of Solomon Islands.
Meanwhile, Dr. Catford says everyone has really pulled together to work on this response with the government at the national and local levels and aid organisations and companies collaborating to make the best of a devastating situation.
World Vision has provided relief assistance through a multi-sector response coordinated by the Honiara City Council and Guadalcanal Provincial Government.
Hygiene kits have been distributed to all 9-thousand 4-hundred and 22 people in evacuation centres in Honiara last week and World Vision is assisting to provide clean water to evacuation centres in Honiara and Guadalcanal.
