D.C.C IDENTIFIED THREE NEW AIRPORT SITES IN MALAITA
Three new sites have been identified by the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government for airports to be built in Malaita province.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare revealed this in his remarks at the launch of the Malaita Provincial Government’s policy document recently.
Speaking at the launch recently, Mr Sogavare said the DCC Government has identified three new airport sites on Malaita.
“The DCC Government have identified three new sites for newly proposed projects because we built the airports, but they weren’t open, so we continue to build new ones, namely: Uhu airport of Rohinari, East Are’are airstrip project and Okoala airstrip project, which are in the agenda.”
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister requested the Malaita provincial government, respective landowners and communities to resolve the issues pertaining to the Gwaunaru’u and Parasi airports, which are still closed.
“On the same note the Democratic Coalition for Change Government would like to humbly request your government and respective landowning tribes and communities to resolve issues pertaining to Gwaunaru’u, I listen to you, I hear you Mr Premier, we all work together. Not only Gwaunaru’u but Parasi airport as well, they are closed. They must be opened and the responsibility is yours and ours, we work together to make these happen.”
