The Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government has negotiated with landowning groups of Munda, Western Province to secure 400 metre land for the Munda International Airport Project.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development Francis Lomo made the statement during a Public Accounts Committee Hearing last week.

Mr Lomo says securing the land is important to meet international airport requirements.

He adds, his ministry will continue to discuss the matter with concerned parties to acquire the required land for the airport project.

“We are also starting a discussion with the customary landowners two weeks ago and we’ve talked about the proposed 400 metres extension at Munda to attain a fully fledged runway which will go into the customary land. We have started that discussion and we will continue to consult them on that and we’ll help them on the land acquisition.”
