DCGA nominates Sogavare for PM post
The Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement, DCGA, has nominated the Member of Parliament Elect for East Choiseul Constituency Manasseh Damukana Sogavare as its candidate for the Prime Minister’s post.
A statement from DCGA stated that Party Wing Leaders and the 33 Members of the DCGA made the decision by consensus during a meeting today.
Party Wing Leaders and members in welcoming the decision have vowed to support their candidate for the Prime Minister’s post.
Making positive progress does not depend on one man but a group of like minded leaders that have the vision to move the country forward, a statement from DCGA highlights.
Speaking during the meeting, the MP Elect for Temotu Vatud Freda Tuki and the MP Elect for Gizo Kolombangara Lanelle Tanangada have supported the DCGA coalition’s candidate.
Meanwhile, DCGA’s candidate for the Prime Minister ‘s post Manasseh Sogavare welcomes the trust and confidence bestowed upon him by coalition members.
Mr. Sogavare welcomes his nomination with a thankful and humble heart saying the fact that the decision was done on consensus demonstrates maturity and unity amongst the members of DCGA.
Mr Sogavare’s nomination for Prime Minister was signed and endorsed by MP Elect for Central Guadalcanal Peter Shanel Agovaka (Our Party), MP Elect for West Are’Are John Maneniaru (Wing Leader Kadere Party), MP Elect for Kia/Hograno/Havulei Jeremiah Manele (Wing Leader DAP), MP Elect for South Vella La Vella Frederick Kologeto.
Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands Democratic Party-led grand coalition will officially announce its candidate for the Prime Minister’s post during a media conference tomorrow.
