DIRTY MARKET CAUSED ILLNESS FOR VENDORS
Women from East Guadalcanal who usually sell their products at the Honiara Central Market have blamed the market’s unhygienic state for being sick.
The women experienced vomiting and headache after returning home from selling their produces at the market recently.
A James Viriala told SIBC News the Honiara City Council should impose strict measures on waste disposal at the Central Market.
“A very angry woman who wished for anonymity told me the Honiara City Council should not encourage the selling of crabs, and should be sold separately from vegetables and fruits. She said that the market is where people used to get their food, but since last week the market was so stench with things like crabs and fish.”
The National Council of Women has recently made a similar call on the Honiara City Council to clear all waste from the market.
