By Alfred Pagepitu
A family at Sambora village in South Vella La Vella, Western province are calling for help after their home was burnt to ashes on Monday.
The family was left homeless after their permanent home was burnt down at around 4pm.
The cause of the fire was still unknown.
Home owner, Zimbia Lilivaki willingly shared the story of the tragic incident to SIBC News as the family is calling for help.
“Nothing was salvaged from the blaze. Our house is fully permanent and we lost everything. I am speechless because we lost all our valuable belongings, clothes and other important documents,” Ms Lilivaki said.
She also appeals for assistance from responsible authorities in the form of materials so that they can rebuild their house.
The family are now residing with Ms Lilivaki’s brothers.
According to Kevin Tudu, who was at the scene, no one was home at the time the fire started.
“I can only see that a 5-year-old girl was the last one seen at the front door when the fire began.”
“We struggled to stop the fire, but unfortunately we were not able to fight it as it had already spread through the house.”
“It was a shocking incident that we all did not expect,” Tudu said.
Tudu hopes the family will be able to slowly recover from the devastating incident.
Any individual wishing to offer help to the family can contact Zimbiah Tonly on mobile 7178945.
