Foreign Affairs Minister Clay Forau says one of the tourism components that needs immediate attention is the construction of a Crafts Centre.

The Minister made the remarks during the launching of the Ministry’s new website and enhanced integrated framework tourism project in Honiara on Friday.

Mr Forau says the construction of the craft centre will address the dire situation of ordinary men and women in Honiara.

“One of the tourism project components that I wish to highlight here, which I think requires immediate attention is the construction of a craft centre. The construction of this craft centre will address the dire situation of our ordinary men and women, faced when trying to sell their handicrafts along the streets in Honiara without proper venue to showcase their products to the tourists.”

He adds it is one of the immediate areas the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Visitors Bureau and Foreign Affairs need to pay attention to.
