GESA COMMUNITY KICK STARTS FESTIVITIES
The Gesa community of ward seven in Northeast Guadalcanal has started its annual end year program today.
Reporting from Northeast Guadalcanal, SIBC stringer Gabriel Riotarau says the program involves various awareness activities.
It is organised especially for the marginalized as well as uniting people together after a long year of hard word and separation.
“I talked with a community participant and an ADRA Strengthening Motivator today Mr. Jay Teika who said this program is an annual event purpose organised for the marginalized and also to bring back members of the community together to celebrate this festive season after spending years out.”
Mr. Riotarau adds the program also aims to engage youth in the community as well as raise awareness talks in the community.
“To engage community members especially youths to be engaged so as not to involve in unwanted activities and behaviour. He said the program also involves awareness talks on health and culture whereby presentations will be made by a doctor and a staff from the Culture and Tourism respectively.”
SIBC News understands other parts of the country are also engaging in sporting activities this festive season.
