Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said his Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the proposed University of the South Pacific (USP) fourth campus in Doma, West Guadalcanal is realised.

Prime Minister Sogavare made the assurance to USP Vice Chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra when the latter briefed Cabinet yesterday on the progress of the fourth USP Campus project.

Hon. Sogavare says as part of his DCC Government commitment, about $200 million has been allocated to facilitate the establishment of the fourth USP Campus from the Fiscal budget and international aid.

In response, USP Vice Chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra appreciates the Prime Minister and his ministers for the opportunity to discuss openly the new Solomon Islands campus.

Professor Chandra adds while he is encouraged by the reconfirmation from the government towards the proposed project, he is confident that the aim of the discussion will be realised.

SIBC News understands USP is also working with Asia Development Bank (ADB) in pushing the project forward.
