HCC continues demolition operation

HCC continues demolition operation

The Honiara City Council (HCC), with the support of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), continued its demolition operation at the Kolaridge Graveyard on 19th February.
This operation is part of the council’s ongoing effort to clear illegal structures and ensure the proper management of public spaces within the city.
HCC’s Law Enforcement Division, under the leadership of Director Mr. Robert Madeo, has been actively working to monitor and enforce city regulations.
Mr. Madeo emphasized that the council, in collaboration with the RSIPF, remains committed to maintaining order and addressing unlawful activities in Honiara.
In addition to the demolishing effort, authorities have conducted their seventh raid on illegal gambling activities, particularly targeting the widespread card game known as ‘play pass’ at Mamana Wata.
The operation aims to curb illegal gambling, which has been linked to social issues such as crime and public disturbances.
“The Honiara City Council, with the support of the police, will continue monitoring these hotspots as part of our enforcement operations.”
“We are committed to upholding city laws and ensuring public spaces are used appropriately,” Mr. Madeo said.
HCC urges the public to cooperate with law enforcement efforts and report any illegal activities that may affect the safety and well-being of the community.
