High Court Dismisses Petition Against Central Kwara’ae MP Ricky Fuo’o
By Sharon Nanau
The High Court has dismissed the petition case filed against Hon. Ricky Fuo’o, Member of Parliament for Central Kwara’ae Constituency.
The petition, filed by former Member of Parliament Jackson Fiulaua following last year’s elections, was dismissed on the grounds that it lacked substantial evidence and had been improperly served.
The petition alleged illegal, corrupt practices, and fraudulent voting during the election.
Hon. Fuo’o told SIBC news he welcomed the High Court’s decision on his petition case.
“It’s being a wild journey so far, getting the results now is good as it will enable real work to start and also provide me the peace of mind that moving forward, as per the High Court ruling, I am officially the member of parliament for Central Kwara’ae Constituency,’’ he said.
Hon. Fuo’o acknowledged that a petition case was expected following his victory in the 2024 elections given the significant number of votes he received.
“The high number of votes I’ve received during the election and looking at the candidates I’ve contested against in their view it is quite hard to believe that the people of Central Kwara’ae would come in force in the name of change, also given the petition process is a democratic process and right we welcomed the petition when it was filed.”
In moving forward Mr. Fuo’o calls on both his supporters and non-supporters to work together in developing the constituency.
“I call on my supporters and supporters of the other candidates that have contested in the election to come and work with us, this is our constituency, and it is our duty we have a role to play not only for our constituency but our country as a whole, let’s leave the past behind and focus on the future.”
SIBC news understands with the legal matter resolved, Hon. Fuo’o is now looking ahead to fulfilling his duties as the official representative of Central Kwara’ae, aiming to bring positive changes to the constituency.
