High School rugby 7s set to kick off in Honiara

High School rugby 7s action is set to return at the Town Ground Rugby Stadium starting tomorrow.

Thanks to the Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) and their major sponsor, Credit Corporation Limited, for sponsoring the three-day event.

SIRUF Marketing and Communication Officer, Ebony Finau, confirmed to SIBC Sports that the competition will run from 25 to 27 June, 2024.

“The competition will kick off with an official opening program at 9am on Tuesday morning’’.

“Our major sponsor, Ronald Prasad, CEO of Credit Corporation Limited, will be the guest of honor at the opening ceremony,’’ Finau said.

She added that the competition will feature both boys’ and girls’ categories showcasing talent from 10 schools in Honiara.

Matches will begin after the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile Finau encourages parents, students, and fans from competing schools to show their pride by coming out in great numbers and cheering for their teams.

She highlighted the value of maintaining sporting behavior throughout the event, promoting a culture of respect and fair play among all participants.

SIBC Sports understands that the competition is organized following the participation of the schools in the Get into Rugby Skills program.
