Honiara High School opens new toilet facility
Honiara Senior High School yesterday opened their new ablution block at the school’s compound.
The new ablution block project was fully funded by the school at a cost of $160,000.
Teachers, staff and student leaders attended the small ceremony which was also held alongside the World Teachers Day celebrations.
Speaking at the Ceremony, School Principal Allan Ketei said the new ablution is a big achievement for the school in terms of providing sanitary access for students.
“We need this project because we accommodate more than 1,200 students every year, so we need proper standard facilities to cater for the high enrolment.
“The establishment of this new facility is also to ensure that our facilities meet required health standards so that our students can practice proper hygiene in school as well,” Mr. Ketei said.
Mr. Ketei has also confirmed that more ablution blocks will be added to the school’s facilities as part of preparations towards the 2023 Pacific Games.
“We are expecting additional ablution blocks that will come under the funding of the 2023 Pacific Games. They have assured us that they will renovate the current ones to meet the required health standards,” the Principal added.
He said classes will also be renovated as part of the preparations.
