The Honiara International Airport has been closed till further notice.

This is after the collapse of the right undercarriage on a Toll cargo plane around ten-thirty am yesterday morning.

The 737 freighter was on roll-out shortly after landing when the right hand main landing gear collapsed, causing the aircraft to slide to a halt on the runway.

A spokesman for aviation company Air-work Group said shortly after landing, while the aircraft was on roll-out, the right hand main landing gear collapsed, causing the aircraft to slide to a halt on the runway.

The aircraft, operated by New Zealand company Air-work Flight Operations, was flying under the livery of Australian-based freight company Toll.

The spokesman said all the required authorities have been informed and a full investigation is in process.

None of the three crew members on board were injured.

SIBC News understands a full investigation is under way into the cause of the incident.
