INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY TO BE CELEBRATED NEXT TUESDAY
The Government, NGOs and development partners will commemorate the International Women’s Day next week.
The International Women’s Day has been used as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
A member of the Organising Committee, Isaac Tagu of Oxfam Australia told a press conference yesterday, celebrations will begin with a parade from the Honiara City Council to the Art Gallery in Point Cruz.
“The program will be held on Tuesday 10th next week and will kick off at 7.30 am with a parade starting at the Honiara City Council and ends at the Art Gallery, where the official programs will be held.”
Each year International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8.
The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911.
