Japan Foreign Affairs Minister to visit Solomon Islands tomorrow.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Solomon Islands is pleased to announce that His Excellency Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan will pay an official visit Solomon Islands between 19th – 20th March 2023.

The purpose of the visit is to meet with his counterpart the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Jeremiah Manele (MP) and pay a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Honourable Manasseh D Sogavare.

Official discussions between the Governments of Japan and Solomon Islands will take place on the 19th March, 2023. Discussions will focus on bilateral relations, regional issues and other matters of mutual interest.

Japan is a long-standing traditional development partner and has assisted Solomon Islands in the area of Fisheries, Education, Health, Mines and Energy, Forestry and other sectors.

On the same day, His Excellency Hayashi will also meet with other agencies and pay tribute at the Japanese War Memorial on Mount Austin. The visit by His Excellency, Mr. Hayashi, will be the first in recent years for Solomon Islands to receive a Foreign Minister of Japan.
