Kacific Country Director for Papua New Guinea, Kasek Galgal, has expressed his appreciation to the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry for hosting a Business After Five event at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara on Friday.

Kacific at the event highlighted its role as a high-throughput satellite broadband internet service provider.

Galgal explained that Kacific is a wholesaler that works with multiple local ISPs and internet service providers, delivering internet to communities within the Solomon Islands.

“While operators like Starlink work with low Earth orbit constellations, we operate with geostationary satellites,” he said.

Kacific’s satellite, Kasific1 , orbits the earth at the same speed as the planet rotates, appearing stationary from the ground.

This allows Kacific to provide dedicated services across 25 countries in Asia and the Pacific Islands.

As a wholesaler, Kacific works with local ISPs to leverage their knowledge of the Solomon Islands.

“Nobody knows the Solomon Islands better than Solomon Islanders themselves,” Galgal stated.

He highlighted the importance of local partnerships in connecting schools, clinics, and various industries throughout the archipelago, which consists of numerous islands.

Kacific has been operating in the region since the launch of its satellite in late 2019, although the company was established earlier, reselling bandwidth from other satellite operators.

“We have multiple products, including our FlexVNO service for telecommunications companies and enterprise clients,” Galgal explained.

He added Kacific offers retail services for small businesses and residential customers, as well as community Wi-Fi options for rural areas.

This initiative allows individuals who cannot afford monthly fees to access internet services through affordable vouchers.

“I always enjoy coming to the Solomon Islands…the atmosphere is always good, and the people are even better…we look forward to returning again,” Galgal concluded.
