LEADERSHIP PERFORMANCE NEEDS CHANGE IN SOLOMONS: SINCW
The National Council of Women (NCW) said performances of leadership needs to change in Solomon Islands.
NCW made the statement according to a 2013 National Survey from the Australian National University which shows that leadership and performance of the government was not to the people’s expectation.
Women in Leadership and Gender Desk Officer Casper Fa’asala said, there is evidence that women would say that performance and leadership needs to change in Solomon Islands.
Mr Fa’asala said, women will tell people the need for social audit to know how money was spent by the government.
“For instance funds from the Republic of China Taiwan (ROC), where are all these money? So really, women don’t have that cash to campaign and to bribe people with the money, but they will tell people to do a social audit as to where the money is, where’s the people’s money where men’s leadership has put aside for the benefit of children, women and the communities?”
Mr Fa’asala adds, doing social audit is an additional strength for women in terms of mindset changes to make good choices to ensure good leadership in Solomon Islands.
