The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs will recruit three more judges for the High Court.

Permanent Secretary Fred Me’esa said they will start recruiting as soon as the new Judges’ terms and conditions are implemented.

Mr Me’esa said they hope to recruit three more judges to the bench.

Only four judges are currently serving at the High Court – three criminal and one civil – and this has resulted in a significant backlog of cases.

SIBC News understands, Cabinet recently approved the review of the terms and conditions of Court of Appeal and High Court Judges.
