MAKIRA ULAWA PROVINCIAL DAY TODAY
Today is Makira Ulawa Province’s Second Appointed Day.
The theme for this year’s celebrations is “Harmonizing Co-existence and contributing to nation building.”
Provincial Premier Stanley Siapu says the province will celebrate its day at the provincial capital Kirakira on Friday.
“Preparations are underway, a local organising committee is in place to carry out preparatory work for the day. In terms of the program, the Minister for Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening will be the guest of honour and accompany him will be the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry together with other staff members.”
Meanwhile, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Hon. Manasseh Maelanga has sent his congratulatory message to Makira Ulawa Provincial Government and its people as the province celebrates its Second Appointed Day.
In a government statement today, Mr. Maelanga says on behalf of the Prime Minster Manasseh Sogavare he conveys government warmest greetings to the province and its people on marking the provincial day.
Hon. Maelanga says as Makira Ulawa Province is an integral part of Solomon Islands he wishes to congratulate the provincial executive and assembly for their tireless efforts, partaking in the process of governance and development both in provincial and national level.
Mr. Maelanga assures the province the DCC Government desires to further strengthen stronger partnership with the province to advance common interest to serve the country and its people.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Parliamentary Opposition Hon. Jeremiah Manele also congratulates the province and its people on this occasion of the provincial day.
Mr. Manele says as the province has played a significant role in the growth of the country through its human and natural resources, these valuable contributions in shaping the country’s economy and social sector must be appreciated.
