Malaitans have great potential to further contribute to the national economy if they work together in opening their land for development.

This is among core messages from Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare attending the Malaita Provincial Second Appointed Day celebrations in Auki this morning.

Prime Minister Sogavare says this is something seriously urgent to ponder on as Malaita celebrates 33 years of being a province.

In his congratulatory message to the Malaita Provincial government and its people, the Prime Minister adds, there is greater potential for the province to develop itself in a significant way.

However, the potential he adds can be utilised if Malaita people work together in freeing up their land for development.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Opposition Group has joined in congratulating Malaita Province as it commemorates its provincial day today.

Honourable Opposition Leader, Jeremiah Manele says, Malaita as a Province is an integral part of our nation and has over the years played a significant role in the growth of our beloved country through its human and natural resources.

The Office of the Independent Group in Parliament also sends its congratulatory message to Malaitans and their provincial government today.

In so doing, the Independent Leader, Dr. Derek Sikua says Malaitans are hard working, educated and industrious, therefore, the achievement of their dream to develop Malaita requires the sacrifice of each individual Malaitans.

Dr. Sikua appreciates Malaita Province for its significant contribution to our nation.
