Mangau urges citizens to celebrate Easter meaningfully
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is urging the good citizens of Solomon Islands to celebrate Easter in a meaningful way.
Police will be doing normal police presence in communities and erecting checkpoints in some parts of Guadalcanal and Honiara City over the weekend.
Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said this is to make sure people celebrate this Easter meaningfully.
“If you are planning to catch up with friends and families this weekend, or travel to traditional holiday destinations, police are urging you to be vigilant during this Easter season.”
“Police Officers will be visible in our communities and on the roads. Officers will be deployed to different locations in Honiara City and some parts of Guadalcanal province and be reminded that when you are driving do not drink and drive.”
He said driving under the influence of liquor will also put drivers and passengers in danger so drivers need to be careful when driving.
“Police will keep educating our people and comply with those road safety measures. Police will arrest and deal with those who breach the traffic regulations.”
Police appeal to citizens to be good law abiding citizens to make this Easter a crime free period and a time for prayer and self-reflection.
