Miwa congratulates grantees for official approval of projects

The Japanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Yoshiaki Miwa, congratulated two grantees who recently signed projects under Japans’ Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project.

The projects include the procurement of secondhand fire trucks for the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Malaita, Western Province, and Guadalcanal Province, as well as the procurement of a secondhand ambulance for the Fau’abu Rural Health Clinic in Malaita.

His Excellency Yoshiaki Miwa expressed his congratulations on the official approval, stating that it is a great honour to contribute to the development of the people of the Solomon Islands.

“We would also like to emphasize that today marks the beginning of our commitment, and we expect strong community involvement.”

“We look forward to seeing the successful completion of these projects in the near future, which will strengthen the relationship between Japan and the Solomon Islands.”

The ambassador states that he believes that the fire trucks and ambulance will be put to good use, benefiting the people in Guadalcanal, Malaita, and Western Provinces.

Director of Fire-Supervising for RSIPF, James Ketaru, conveyed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the government and people of Japan for their generous donation.

“This donation will help enhance fire and emergency response to the expected standards, saving lives and protecting government properties, businesses, and the personal properties of citizens,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Operating Officer from the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM), Peter Pitia on behalf of the Anglican Church of Melanesia and the recipient, Fau’abu Rural Health Clinic also extends his appreciation to Japan for the assistance in providing timely and essential emergency medical services to those in need.

The Grassroots Human Security Project will assist in procuring fire trucks from Japan for the Solomon Islands through a total amount of approximately USD 89,705.

The procurement of the ambulance amounts to approximately USD 31,346.

Both grantees will fund the logistics and shipment of the mentioned vehicles.
