MORE WOMEN TO VIE FOR PARLIAMENT HOUSE.
There is a strong possibility a large number of women will contest this year’s National General Elections.
Project Manager for the Parliament U-N-D-P Strengthening project Celsus Talifilu is organising a Solomon Islands mock women’s parliament next week in which 35 women are participating.
Mr Talifilu says most participants are aspiring women candidates for this year’s National General Elections.
“The Majority of the 35 women who gave in their names are aspiring women candidates, whether that aspiration will last until the National General elections we don’t know. But the light out there seems to indicates a lot of women will want to stand. Most of them are from Honiara but they are also from our constituencies in the provinces.”
