The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) is planning to establish a Working Group to work on recommendations and outcomes of a Lessons Learnt Workshop on this year’s April flash floods.

NDMO Director Loti Yates told SIBC News, the working group will deal with the workshops’s recommendations and outcomes.

Mr Yates adds, the working group will be in place for six months.

“The recommendations and way forward that we’ve identified out of this workshop will be carried out to ensure that the design of the new look Disaster Rick Management Plan will be put in place. They will be doing one-on-one consultations with all other government agencies to come up with a proposed structure with functions and membership of particular clusters and then maybe doing one-on-one stakeholder consultations.”

The two-day workshop was attended by stakeholders who worked during the disaster management operations of the April Floods.

It ended successfully yesterday.
