NEWLY ELECTED CITY MAYOR OUTLINED COUNCIL CHANGES
The newly elected Honiara City Mayor Alfrence Fatai has outlined some of the changes his executive will implement.
Speaking during his victory this week, Mr Fatai says the Council must improve its tax system to broaden the revenue base of the council.
He adds councillors must read and understand the HCC by-laws and work in partnership with authorities, stakeholders and communities to maintain a ‘safe’ Honiara.
He says HCC’s infrastructure division is required to deliver its mandated services.
“Our infrastructure division will be required to deliver its mandated services. We must resource this sector to effectively carry out the services required of us. This is where we judge it determines our return in the next four years.”
